The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs energy from the laser while the hair is in its active phase of growth. The laser energy is converted into heat which destroys the hair follicle without harming the surrounding tissue. The hair follicle is then unable to grow new hair. The Soprano ICE uses two wavelengths which target different depths and structures within the hair follicle. The three main targets are the bulge, bulb and papilla. The different wavelengths are Alexandrite (755nm) and Diode (810nm).The laser works by gradually heating up the skin to a temperature that damages the hair follicles and prevents hair re-growth and also avoids injury to the surrounding tissues.
The technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area – in-motion – means that the area is fully covered.

The tip is very cool – ICE technology – cools the skin surface and prevents burns, pigmentation changes and allows the treatment to be virtually painless.

I had my first appointment at Juliette Johns yesterday and I cannot fault the service I received. After walking in feeling very nervous and vulnerable all the staff made me feel at ease and relaxed with their calm approach and expertise. I am looking forward to starting the process in a few weeks time.

Frequently asked questions

Laser Hair Removal

  1. How successful is Soprano Ice Laser Hair Removal?

The average person will see an approximate 50% reduction in hair growth after 3 treatments and up to an 80% lasting reduction after 6-8 treatments.
Results may vary from person to person.

After you have completed a series of 6-8 treatments any remaining hair will usually be finer in texture and lighter in colour. Most clients will then require one or two maintenance treatments per year.

  2. Will the hair grow back?

No. Once we have damaged the hair follicle, it cannot grow new hair.
However, there will inevitably be a few hair follicles that manage to escape the laser during each treatment. We suggest occasional maintenance treatments for optimal long lasting results.

  3. What can I do in between treatments?

Shaving is the only method of hair removal prior and in between treatment that is recommended.

The laser only works on active hair growth, so when shaving the hair is still left in the follicle ready for the laser treatment.

  4. Is laser hair removal suitable for everyone?

No. Contra-indications to laser Hair removal is Keloid scarring, Cancer, Active infection, Medication that makes you photosensitive. Pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Please call reception if in doubt, for our list of contra-indications.
